We are pleased to announce new dates for our TELEMAC summer school. This four-day classroom course will be taking place on 7-10 July 2026 at our offices in Oxfordshire.

 

Aimed at consultants, researchers and students who are working on riverine, coastal and maritime hydrodynamic modelling projects, this course gives an insight to the hydrodynamic tools available in the TELEMAC suite.

 

The course will cover:

  • Meshing in TELEMAC (day one)

Includes a practical focus on creating unstructured meshes. These meshes are well suited to complex geometries and largescale applications, particularly where local refinement is required in intricate or highgradient areas. The software used will be Blue Kenue, and during handson sessions we will demonstrate the key functionality and workflows within Blue Kenue.

  • Introduction to TELEMAC 2D and 3D (day two)

The focus will be on setting up simulations in TELEMAC2D and 3D, modifying input files and interpreting simulation results. It will also cover available parameters and schemes of the TELEMAC software for simulating processes as turbulence and friction.

  • Introduction to GAIA  (day three)

Looking at morphodynamic modelling, sessions will include an overview of the fundamental sediment transport processes implemented in GAIA. GAIA is the sediment transport module of the TELEMAC system and solves the equations governing bed load, suspended load, and bed evolution for a range of sediment types, including uniform sands, sand mixtures, and sand–mud mixtures.

  • Introduction to TOMAWAC and ARTEMIS  (day four)

This day will focus on modelling waves processes.

TOMAWAC represents the generation of waves due to winds or offshore climates and propagation into shallow water. It includes the processes of refraction due to the seabed and ambient currents, wave growth due to the wind, energy dissipation due to bottom friction and white capping, wave breaking and wave blocking.

ARTEMIS is a model for harbour disturbance assessment that solves the mild slope equation in elliptic form. It includes the processes of wave refraction by bed shoaling, partial reflection and diffraction due to structures.
