The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), in cooperation with the Kent Conservation District (KCD), seek a contractual four-year term Environmental Scientist IV with DNREC’s Division of Watershed Stewardship, Shoreline and Waterway Management Section to work out of their Dover or Lewes, DE office location.

The Scientist will contribute to the Shoreline and Waterway Management team by executing and overseeing scientific studies concerned with assessing, monitoring, quantifying, and documenting the effect of ocean and bay forces (storms, waves, currents, sea level rise, human influence, etc.) on the state's beaches, shores, and waterways. In particular, the Scientist will assist in the development and production of annual beach change reports, dredge project prioritization, beach nourishment prioritization, and other data-driven management decision making tools, in part using beach and waterway survey data collected by the Section Survey team. The position will also assist in developing content for the Section’s websites and social media, as well as outreach activities for events.
