Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to our themed session “Nature-Positive Engineering for Mitigating Multi-Hazard Coastal Risks” at the International Conference on Natural Hazards & Infrastructure (ICONHIC2026), taking place in Chania, Greece, from 29th June to 2nd July 2026.

Our session will explore innovative approaches and forward-looking and policy-relevant insights that integrate nature-based solutions (NbS) with traditional coastal engineering to address the growing challenges of flooding, erosion, saltwater intrusion, extreme temperatures, and compound climate risks. We welcome contributions from diverse disciplines, including engineering, ecology, geomorphology, geography, environmental economics, coastal management, risk analysis, and other related fields, that advance understanding of:

The efficacy and scalability of NbS for multi-hazard coastal resilience

Ecological thresholds, socio-economic trade-offs, and co-benefits

Governance and policy mechanisms for equitable implementation

Modelling advances in assessing multiple, interacting, and cascading risks, and

Practical case studies demonstrating Global North and Global South contexts.

Key Deadlines:

Abstract Submission: 30th November 2025

Manuscript Submission: 1st March 2026

You can find more details about our session here:

We would be delighted if you could submit an abstract and share this call within your networks. Your expertise and insights will help enrich the discussions and foster innovative pathways for climate adaptation and coastal resilience.

Looking forward to your contributions!

Thank you.

Best regards,

Abiy
