Dear collegues,

I am inviting applications for postdoctoral positions at Shenzhen University (Shenzhen, China) in the broad area of ocean wave–related studies. Successful candidates will work with me on one or more of the following research directions:

1. Development and application of AI-based models for ocean waves, storm surges, and/or marine ecology

2. Microwave and/or lidar remote sensing of sea surface winds and waves

3. Data assimilation and data fusion for numerical and/or AI-based wave models

4. Wave climate analysis and variability

5. Other relevant research topics (relevant to AI oceanography, ocean remote sensing, wind-waves, or storm surge), subject to discussion, that align with the candidate's expertise and interests

It would be nice if the candidate have a strong background in one or more related fields, such as:
· Marine sciences / physical oceanography

· Computer science / artificial intelligence / data science

· Remote sensing

· Geography or related disciplines

Interdisciplinary experience is highly encouraged.

Eligibility (University Requirements, I can do nothing about it)

According to university regulations:

Applicants must have obtained their PhD within the past 3 years, and

Be no older than 35 years of age at the time of application.

Salary and Benefits

Annual before-tax income: approximately 330,000 CNY (≈ 40,000 EUR)  [China offers a significantly lower cost of living than developed countries, while maintaining a comparable standard of living, making this position financially competitive]

On-campus dining: University cafeterias operate three meals per day, with an average cost of 15–20 CNY per meal. In addition, each postdoctoral researcher receives a monthly meal allowance of 300 CNY.

Sports and fitness facilities:  Access to all university sports and fitness facilities, typically costing 5–20 CNY per visit. A yearly sports subsidy of 400 CNY is also provided.

Additional Opening: Remote Part-Time Research Fellow (Non-Contract Research Collaboration)

We are also recruiting remote working part-time Research Fellows for the same ocean wave-related research directions mentioned above. This is a flexible academic cooperation role designed for researchers for developping countries but cannot come to China for a postdoc position due to different reasons.

Cooperation Mode: This is a non-contract academic collaboration position without formal employment signing. The research work is carried out remotely in the form of scientific research cooperation and paper publication. All labor remuneration is funded by the supervisor’s research projects.

Remuneration: Monthly fee ranges from 2000–4000 CNY (pre-tax), adjusted according to research workload, contribution and academic output.

Requirements: No special need. All people with relevant research experience are all welcome to apply. There is no strict age and degree limit for this remote position.

Research Content: Consistent with the above-mentioned postdoctoral research directions, the specific research content can be flexibly determined through communication according to the candidate’s personal expertise, research interests and available working time.

Application Information
Application period: Open all year around
