This position offers opportunities to work with state-of-the-art numerical models, theoretical frameworks, and observational datasets to improve the physical understanding and parameterization of these processes in ocean circulation models.
The selected candidate should have a strong background in physical oceanography or fluid dynamics. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: oceanic turbulence, submesoscale dynamics, or internal wave processes. Experience with numerical modeling and programming in Fortran, Python, or MATLAB is a plus.
NRL-SSC provides an opportunity to work with a large group of internationally recognized oceanographers highly skilled in numerical modeling, observations, and data analysis. The postdoc will have first-hand access to field measurements of turbulence, as well as major supercomputing sites in addition to excellent local computer resources.
Annual postdoctoral salary is $88,600. Applicants must be a US citizen or US permanent residents at time of application.
