Dear Coastal List,
The Coastal Ecosystems and Watersheds Lab at University of Florida is looking for a postdoctoral associate to join two projects funded through the National Academies of Sciences - Gulf Program. The role involves two complementary projects investigating coastal flood risks and the ecosystem service benefits of small-scale living shorelines, in collaboration with Florida Sea Grant, and Florida Atlantic University.
Postdoctoral Associate Position includes:
  • Leading data analysis and community-engaged research that integrates high-resolution sea level models (FAU led), sensor data, AI approaches (FAU led), and ecological change.
  • Conducting fieldwork deploying instruments to quantify shoreline dynamics, coastal water levels, and developing practitioner-focused outreach materials.
  • Coordinating extension and stakeholder engagement activities to translate science into actionable tools for coastal communities.
  • Based at UF’s Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Program with fieldwork along Florida’s Gulf Coast.
  • Initial 1-year appointment with a $60,000 annual salary; funding renewal expected.
Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in environmental science, coastal engineering, ecology, or related fields, with skills in data analysis, programming (R, Python, GIS), and science communication.
