Coastal listers,
Please consider submitting an abstract to the ‘Marine transportation impacts to the coastal environment’ session at the upcoming CERF conference (10-14 November, 2025). We invite researchers studying ships, ship wake, propwash, boating activity, shipping, channel usage, and other related topics to join us in Richmond this November. The impact of ship operations continues to be a prominent issue affecting estuarine and coastal regions around the world, and we hope to develop an engaging session on all things ship related.
Abstracts are due 28-April-2025
Marine Transportation Impacts to the Coastal Environment
Keywords:
Hydrodynamics and Hydrology; Estuarine and Coastal Modeling; Nature-Based Solutions; Wetlands
Description:
This session addresses the impacts of marine transportation on the coastal environment. Across the globe, navigation channel expansion to accommodate Post- Panamax vessels brings new challenges, including increased dredging, higher traffic density, and the impacts of larger and faster vessels on coastal ecology and shoreline erosion. This session will bring together scientists engaged in basic and applied research related to the hydrodynamics and environmental consequences of both commercial and recreational navigation in coastal and estuarine environments.
