Dear all,
My name is Elodie Laffitte, Associate Professor at the University of Toulon and researcher in physical oceanography at the MIO laboratory (Toulon, France).
If you are potentially interested in the following topics: coastal flooding, flood risk, coastal protection, sea levels, and climate change, I am pleased to invite you to the launch of the French Coastal Flooding Community, bringing together stakeholders from across the entire French territory (mainland France and overseas territories). This will take place during a webinar on March 26, 2026 (afternoon, CET).
The aim of this webinar is to gather a wide range of stakeholders — researchers, public agencies, consulting firms, and local authorities — working on these issues, in order to better share approaches, data, and both scientific and operational challenges.
This initiative is part of a broader collaborative dynamic on coastal flooding, in connection with ongoing efforts such as the TSH working group led by SHOM, whose steering committee we have recently joined.
The objective is not to duplicate existing work, but rather to create an informal space for exchange between communities that do not always interact.
We hope these discussions will help identify shared questions, scientific and operational needs, and potentially foster future collaborations.
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested or if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting you online.
Kind regards,
Elodie Laffitte
