Dear colleagues,

 

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic PhD student to join our dynamic research team for a pioneering study on coastal processes in the Victor Harbor region, South Australia.

 

Position: Joint Victor Harbor Council-Flinders University Enterprise PhD Student in Coastal Processes.

 

Location: Flinders University, Adelaide, South Australia

 

Project Overview: The research project aims to delve deep into the complexities of coastal processes, exploring topics such as wave dynamics, shoreline erosion, sediment transport, and the impacts of climate change on coastal systems in the Victor Harbor region. This study will utilize state-of-the-art technology, including substantial fieldwork, remote sensing, and numerical modelling, to develop a comprehensive understanding of coastal dynamics and inform sustainable management practices. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, stakeholders, and policymakers.

 

Funding and Resources: Competitive PhD scholarship at $33,990 per year for up to 3.5 years, additional research funding, and access to the Beach and Dune Systems (BEADS) laboratory world-class facilities and equipment. University tuition fees for domestic and International (~$150,000 for International students) are also waived.

 

Qualifications: Applicants should have an Honours or a Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering, Oceanography, Coastal processes/dynamics, Environmental Science, or a related field. In addition, it is desirable to have strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, R, Python) and GIS, experience in fieldwork and a solid understanding of coastal processes, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
