Call for abstracts: ICE Breakwaters 2027 (Edinburgh, UK)

The Institution of Civil Engineers is now seeking abstracts from those wishing to present papers at its Coasts, Marine Structures and Breakwaters 2027 conference.

With the theme “Where theory meets practice: connecting knowledge and experience”, this long-established coastal engineering conference will bring together a global community of professionals from across the sector.

We are particularly interested in abstracts presenting practical, data-driven solutions in the following areas:

  • structural resilience, design and adaptation
  • construction methods, plant and temporary works
  • climate change impacts
  • changing coastlines and evolving practices
  • innovation, new technologies and techniques.

Whether you’re working on research or applied projects, this event – to be held in Edinburgh on 22-24 September 2027 – is an excellent opportunity to share your new insights with an international audience.

Your abstract should include no more than six authors, including one proposed presenting author. It should not exceed 300 words and a single side of A4 (a second page is permissible if it includes images/figures).

To send in your abstract or request further guidance on the submission process, please email the ICE’s knowledge research lead James Crumly at james....@ice.org.uk
