Louisiana University Marine Consortium (LUMCON) is seeking to hire a postdoctoral research associate as early as January, 2025. The successful applicant will work with Dr. Zang on various projects focusing on the development of coupled physical-biological-sediment transport models in the northern Gulf of Mexico and the Northeast U.S. Shelf. The postdoc will work closely with several teams at LUMCON, Louisiana State University, and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

 

Qualifications:

 

·      PhD degree from an accredited institution in Marine Science, Oceanography, or related area of specialization is required.

·    Significant knowledge of at least one of the generic ocean models (e.g., ROMS, FVCOM, MITgcm);

  Strong programming and mathematical skills are desired; familiar with high performance computing (HPC) environment and significant knowledge of Fortran, Matlab, and/or Python is required. 


  Significant knowledge of physical oceanography, phytoplankton dynamics, and/or sediment transport is preferred.
