Dear Colleagues,

As a guest editor, I am announcing that the Springer journal Anthropocene Coasts is accepting soliciting papers for a new open access topical collection titled on the "Understanding Coastal Processes and Human-Environmental Interactions in the Anthropocene: Multidisciplinary Perspective”.

Climate change, accelerating sea-level rise, and intensified human activities are significantly increasing the vulnerability of coastal regions worldwide, resulting in more frequent and severe hazards such as tropical cyclones, flooding, coastal erosion, and habitat degradation. These challenges not only pose substantial threats to coastal ecosystems but also to the social, economic, and cultural sustainability of communities living along coastlines. Addressing such complex problems requires a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach that integrates a variety of research methodologies spanning sedimentology, geochemistry, geomorphology, ecology, remote sensing, as well as emerging analytical techniques including deep learning (DL) and machine learning (ML).

This special collection is designed to explore the complex human-environmental interactions within coastal settings, emphasizing the wide spectrum of processes shaping coastal landscapes and human responses to these changes. We invite contributions from traditional geoscience studies, field investigations, ecological assessments, and remote sensing analyses, along with innovative DL and ML methodologies. By accommodating diverse scientific perspectives and methods, this issue seeks to foster a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding coastal hazard dynamics and resilience strategies, ultimately contributing valuable insights toward more informed and sustainable coastal restoration efforts.

The submission deadline for this collection is February 28, 2026. You can submit your manuscript any time before that, and all articles published by Anthropocene Coasts are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication. You can access the topical collection via this link

To submit your manuscript for consideration Anthropocene Coast as part of this Collection, please follow the steps detailed on this pagePlease note there are also no publication fees for this journal.

Best regards,
