Dear Members of the Coastal List,
We are pleased to announce the opening of the 2024 call for PhD Research Scholarships, sponsored by FCT – the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. This initiative aims to provide support to promising graduates who aspire to undertake research leading to a PhD degree.
This announcement intends to identify candidates interested in applying for the 2024 FCT call within the framework of the Marine Energy and Hydraulic Structures Research Group at CIIMAR – Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research, within the Hydraulics, Water Resources, and Environment Division of the Civil Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), Portugal.
We invite individuals who are motivated and interested in marine renewable energy, particularly in wave and hybrid technologies and hydraulic structures. Potential candidates who are keen to undertake numerical and physical modelling studies and wish to take advantage of our coastal engineering Hydraulic Laboratory are encouraged you to reach out to us.
The application process:
1. Initial contact with us to provide details about your background and proposed research topic. Please send us CV and a one-page motivation letter to explain you background and proposed research topic no later than the 29nd of March 2024.
2. Upon selection, assistance will be provided to develop the FCT proposal (20-day period). Expected deadline for submission for FCT proposal submission is the 18th of April 2024.
3. Submission of the proposal, preparation of additional administrative documentation, and awaiting the FCT evaluation period (approximately 6 months).
4. Upon FCT approval of the project, the fully-funded 4-year PhD course will commence.
