PLUMES2.0v1– Dilution Model
Update with carbonate chemistry and dissolved oxygen kinetics - Model Theory and User Manual

The Salish Sea Modeling Center (SSMC) at the University of Washington is pleased to announce the release of PLUMES2.0v1 update. The PLUMES2.0 model was developed by SSMC in collaboration with USEPA for conducting effluent plume dilution and mixing zone analysis. It is a Fortran version of the USEPA model Visual Plumes that was originally written in Pascal by the developer Dr. Walter Frick of USEPA with an integrated guided user interface (GUI). USEPA actively supports, maintains, and distributes PLUMES2.0

PLUMES2.0v1 update includes carbonate chemistry calculations that were made possible through a grant from the ClimateWorks Foundation. Simplified DO/BOD kinetics were added by the developers at SSMC as an added feature in support of water quality compliance assessments.

The updated version and the User Manual may be downloaded from the University of Washington SSMC GitHub site

We look forward to receiving comments and suggestions from the user community for continued development and improvement of the software.
