The Applied Coastal Research and Engineering team at the Washington State Department of Ecology is currently hiring a Shoreline Mapping Scientist. We are seeking applicants with strong GIS skills and experience in coastal science, remote sensing, geomorphology, physical geography, coastal planning, or similar disciplines.
Application Timeline: This position will remain open until filled; we will review applications on April 24, 2026. In order to ensure consideration, please submit an application on or before April 23, 2026.
This position will join our Shoreline Mapping Unit, which works to fulfill directives from RCW 43.21A.530, requiring a shoreline condition survey of the Puget Sound be completed every two years. The position will map shoreline features, conduct geospatial analyses, create technical documents, and have the opportunity to aid in method development and strategic planning for the Shoreline Mapping Unit.
