The Department of Civil, Computer Science and Aeronautical Technologies Engineering at Roma Tre University (Rome, Italy) is offering a fully funded PhD position, supported by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
The PhD fellowship is dedicated to developing an advanced methodology for analyzing tsunami events of seismic and non-seismic origin. The research activity envisages constructing and implementing a numerical modelling chain to simulate the entire cycle of the tsunami event: from the generation phase to propagation to coastal inundation. The model will investigate possible modelling approaches (e.g. linear combination of Green's functions) and will be validated by studying historical tsunamigenic events. The study also aims to contribute to the development of Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard Assessment (PTHA) approaches also of non-seismic origin, in support of risk mitigation and coastal planning.
