NH024 – Impacts and Resiliency of Coastal Ecosystems to Transient Disturbances

Abstract deadline: July 31, 2025
This session focuses on how coastal and estuarine systems respond to transient disturbances—hurricanes, storm surge, heavy rainfall—and how those pulse events interact with long-term stressors like sea-level rise and land-use change.
We especially encourage studies that combine field observations, satellite remote sensing, and modeling to understand system-scale responses across the land-estuary-ocean continuum. Topics like wetland loss, recovery timescales, hydrologic connectivity, and biogeochemical feedbacks are all welcome. Comparative and regionally focused work that supports stakeholder engagement and resilience frameworks is particularly encouraged.
