Dear Colleagues,
The short course will deal with various topics related to numerical simulation of outfall systems in various settings, including:
-
density currents from desalination plants,
-
introduction to numerical methods such as Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of outfall systems and effluent mixing,
-
wave effects and mixing of effluent discharges under wave-current interaction,
-
large scale and small scale modeling of outfall systems,
-
application of machine learning methods and artificial intelligence in the simulation and design of outfall systems,
-
numerical simulation of outfall systems in shallow waters,
-
integrated catchment modelling for wet-weather overflow abatement and
-
assessing near and far field impacts against regulatory guidelines with an overview of Australian methodologies and approaches.
Participants will be able to gain insight into numerical modeling approaches under various settings such as shallow waters, wave-current interaction, density currents, machine learning methods, large eddy simulation as well as an insight into regulatory guidelines.
The course organised by the IAHR/IWA
Joint Technical Committee on Outfall Systems will be imparted by leading experts in the field, as follows: Kaushal Kumandur, Hossein Kheirkhah, Ed Beling, Sana Ramezani, Diego Casas, Majid Mohammadian, Danial
Goodarzi, Xiaohui Yan, and Nathan Costa.
Best wishes,
Elsa
