Hi all,

I am writing to share exciting news!

In 2025, we (a group of activists, scholars, and tech cooperative workers from around the world) attended a three-day workshop in London, hosted by Essex University, to discuss platforms and labor. From this meeting emerged many friendships and projects. This is one of them!

Platform without Borders, the Podcast aims to highlight alternative (i.e., better) models for platforms that center workers. Our first three episodes (season 1) showcase platforms developed by care workers in California, tech workers' cooperatives in Argentina and Brazil, as part of their organizing strategies to improve their labor conditions. Episodes are available with subtitles in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

We hope this helps other scholars to amplify not only critiques of predatory and exploitative platforms but also workers’ efforts to create better platforms for themselves. Most importantly, we hope this encourages other scholars to work exclusively with cooperatives like Código Libre and autonomous, communitarian organizations like Barricada TV, both of which are involved in this project.
