Dear Students,
The Scripps Institution of Oceanography CMBC’s Program for Interdisciplinary Environmental Research (PIER) is hosting Considering the Octopus Model, a half-day conference on Friday, April 17, 2026, held at the UC San Diego Design Lab, aiming to showcase graduate student environmental research across disciplines and build a network of scholars across the university. The event will consist of 5-minute lightning talks for early-stage projects, 15-minute presentations for mid-to-late-stage projects, and panel discussions about navigating challenges to conducting and publishing interdisciplinary research.
We are opening the call for presenters due Friday, February 27, 2026, and invite you to submit your ideas and projects for review. This event is organized by graduate students and for graduate students. It is a great place to get feedback on your research (at any stage) and meet students working on similar issues outside of your department. More details are provided on the attached flyer. We hope to see you there!
