Hello,
My name is Megan, and I am the Co-Director of the UCSD Jail Outreach Program. Our goal is to make STEM education more accessible to incarcerated populations, empowering them to develop scientific literacy and to see how science connects to their daily lives. We collaborate with the San Diego Sheriff's department to design and teach interactive science lessons at jail reentry facilities across San Diego County. These classes are centered around topics that include plant biology, neuroscience, and astronomy, to name a few.

We are currently recruiting graduate students who would be interested in teaching courses, modifying existing curricula, translating courses into Spanish, and helping us secure funding support. This is a great opportunity for graduate students who are looking to teach students from diverse backgrounds and who want to find creative ways to connect science to the real world.

Attached to this email is a flyer for our program, along with a Google Form to RSVP for our first meeting on Tuesday, October 7th at 5:30 PM. If you could share this outreach opportunity with the students in your graduate program, I would really appreciate it!

Thank you,
Megan
