Dear  UCSC Students,

I am Clement Stokes, a doctoral candidate in the Capital Area North Doctorate in Educational Leadership (CANDEL) program at UC Davis. I am conducting a research study titled:

"Assessing the Relationship Between Campus Safety and Basic Needs Insecurity on Student Success: A Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Perspective."

This study seeks to understand how experiences with campus safety, food insecurity, and housing instability affect academic performance, sense of belonging, and well-being among undergraduate students at UC Santa Cruz.

Your voice is essential to shaping how universities support student success.

Who can participate?
Any current UCSC undergraduate student, regardless of academic standing or background.

What will you do?
Complete a confidential, 15–20-minute online survey about your experiences on campus.

Why participate?

  • Help improve basic needs and safety services at UCSC
  • Ensure student perspectives guide policy and equity initiatives
  • Anyone can enter to win one of (20) $15 Visa gift cards

Your responses are anonymous, and your participation is entirely voluntary. The survey has been approved under UC Davis IRB guidelines, and all data will be handled with strict confidentiality.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with me directly at cst...@ucdavis.edu

Warm regards,
