Theater of the Oppressed Workshop:

I find myself feeling helpless anytime I scroll on instagram nowadays. Studies have made connections between watching bad news on social media, and learned helplessness, the belief you have no power to change your environment. Augusto Boal's Theater of the Oppressed is a type of theater that empowers people under oppressive systems by practicing/problem solving different revolutionary strategies in the rehearsal room. 

Using Augusto Boal’s Newspaper Theater and different improvisational theatrical techniques, we will demystify the objectivity of social media, and rehearse resistance against the “bad news” in this 2 weekend workshop!

Important to note, this workshop is a part of my Master's Thesis, and the process of our work and discoveries we may make along the way, could be included in my Thesis paper.
