Desk Assistants provide support for daily operations and foster a welcoming environment for our users. In this role, you'll manage the checkout of our circulating equipment collection including digital cameras, video cameras, audio recorders, and Virtual Reality (VR) equipment. You will also support use of the group study rooms on the Ground Floor of McHenry Library, and use of the Audio Production Studio. DSC Desk Assistants also provide support for digital scholarship software, such as StoryMaps and ArcGIS, available on workstations in the DSC Lab. advanced equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and paper cutting
machines (Cricut) by working our public desk and providing access to
equipment and support of our users. This role does not require any
previous making experience. All new workers go through a 10-week
training program in the Fall to learn our equipment and our support
philosophies.
