Santa Cruz Shakespeare is an independent non-profit repertory theatre company that matches unparalleled professional performances with unparalleled outdoor beauty in the heart of Santa Cruz. Inspired by Shakespeare, we create and strengthen community by bringing audiences and theater artists together to celebrate stories about our collective humanity. We provide internships in administration & marketing, costume design, directing & dramaturgy, and technical. The application period for our 2026 Summer Season Internship
Program has been extended to

Reminder: These internships are unpaid but please check with your university about funding opportunities e.g. Praxis or Porter Fund (UCSC) and credit for these internships.
Our 2026 Summer Season includes three main stage performances (
Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, and
Fences), and one apprenticeship showcase. All prospective interns must fill out an application form online at

Key Summer Apprenticeship Dates:
● Shops Begin Work: June 10, 2025
● Rehearsals Begin: June 10, 2025 for most apprentices; and June 3, 2025 for stage management apprentices.
● Fringe Show Tech: August 11 and August 18, 2025
● Fringe Show Opens: August 19, 2025
● Season Closes: August 31, 2025
- Opportunity for 2 acting apprentices for an additional week to stay until September 7th. To be considered for “Into the Woods” you must be available until this date. The stipend will increase to $1,625.
- Opportunity for 1 Stage Management apprentice for an additional week to stay until September 7th. To be considered for “Into the Woods” you must be available until this date. The stipend will increase to $1,750.
● Fringe rehearsals will generally be T-F from 9am-12pm with
additional days and times as needed.
