Seattle Rep

Dear Student Advisors, Educators, and Community Leaders,

We’re excited to announce that Seattle Rep’s Winky Hussey Professional Arts Training Program (WHPATP) is now accepting applications for our 2026/27 Season Apprentice cohort! The WHPATP has been preparing emerging theater professionals with immersive, hands-on training and mentorship in a collaborative and inclusive regional theater environment for over 40 years.

Now through February 26, 2026, prospective Apprentices can apply to gain technical expertise, leadership skills, and industry connections by working alongside seasoned professionals on Seattle Rep’s renowned productions. Committed to diversity and equity, the program strengthens the pool of skilled industry professionals in Washington state and empowers individuals to excel in their craft while contributing to the future of the performing arts.

In addition to hands-on training in their chosen field, Apprentices have the opportunity to participate in seminars, job shadowing, management and OSHA training, social-emotional learning coursework, and more.

Seattle Rep Apprenticeships in the News

“Seattle Rep’s paid apprenticeships, rare in theater, approved by state”
The Seattle Times

The WHPATP was in The Seattle Times this week! Read more about how our unique Apprenticeship program prepares the next generation of theater professionals.

“I was drawn to this because you still get hands-on experience in the rehearsal room, actively participating in the creation of theater, and you also get administrative insight and hands-on experience."
—Current Directing & Programs Apprentice Jayna Shoda Meyer

The Winky Hussey Professional Arts Training Program is supported in part by Shakespeare in American Communities, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.
