š SAVE THEATER AND DANCE! šš½
We ask for your support in student elections āĀ vote by May 16!
(Many thanks if you have already voted!Ā šš)
Ā
VotingĀ matters.Ā
YOURĀ voteĀ matters.Ā
How will MEASURE 86 Save UCSC Theater and Dance?Ā
All UCSC undergraduates have had access to a ticket to every Theater Arts play and dance show since undergrads voted back in 2003 to pass Measure 11! The cost has been $2.00/quarter via undergrad student fees. We usually stage three shows in a quarter, and undergrads can see all of them at no cost other than the two bucks ā such an amazing deal!!
MEASURE 86 Save UCSC Theater and Dance is an amendment to Measure 11 to increase the fee to $5 dollars per student per quarter to match the inflation that has grown over the last 22 YEARS and allow us to continue providing tickets at no additional charge. This will still be such an amazing deal!!
A YES vote š means: Ā
ā UCSC undergraduates can still have a ticket to all performances at PPD venues!Ā
ā We can hire more student workers and raise their salaries!Ā
ā Registered student groups will no longer be charged a use fee for PPD venues, space permitting!Ā
ā It will increase the budget and production values of our shows!Ā
A NO vote means: Ā
If this measure does NOT pass š¢, PPD will no longer be able to absorb the rising costs of materials and labor, and we will have to reduce our production budget or, more likely, reduce the number of shows we stage. This will negatively impact student success in significant ways, and make it more difficult for students to complete our degrees on time.
HOW TO VOTE?
Go to theĀ 2025 CampusĀ ElectionsĀ pageĀ orĀ scan the QR code on the poster belowĀ for a link toĀ voteĀ throughĀ 11:59 pm on the 16th!When to vote? ā NOW! Voting opens May 5th and closes May 16th at 11:59 pm!
How many people need to vote? ā We need 20% of the student body to vote in this election to get any measure to qualify! Last year, we only had 8% of the student body vote.Ā
