Students in our Theater Arts M.A. program study with highly engaged faculty in the UCSC Department of Performance, Play & Design. The program provides tools to broaden your creative voice and define your own path as a working artist and thinker. It helps prepare students for professional achievements in one or more of the following areas:

  • interactive media design and performance
  • stage design
  • directing
  • dramaturgy
  • performance
  • performance scholarship
  • playwriting
  • arts management

Our M.A. program can also place you in an excellent position to pursue further graduate academic work, such as a "terminal" M.F.A. or Ph.D. degree.
