Dear Psi Chi members, perspectives, and psychology enthusiasts,

Psi Chi at UCSC is excited to announce its Undergraduate Research Symposium on April 24th, 2026. The Psi Chi Symposium will be hosted in the College 9/10 Multipurpose Room. The symposium is hosted annually, providing UCSC Psychology, Cognitive Science, and social science students with an introduction to an academic conference. This event is being held in association with the UCSC Psychology Department. It is intended to be a place for undergrads to present research/research they are involved with and to connect with others in their discipline! This event is intended for undergraduate Psychology or Cognitive Science students, although others in related social science disciplines are encouraged to apply as well.

As of today, the application to be a presenter at the symposium is OPEN and linked at the end of this email. There are two types of presentations at the Symposium: Poster-board presentations and oral presentations. Poster-board presenters are often from labs or groups of students involved in research, although they can also showcase independent projects. Oral presenters are given 8-10 minutes to present their research on stage and answer questions from their peers and faculty. If you are interested in either of these opportunities and have undergraduate research work you would like to present, we highly encourage you to apply!

Requirements for poster-board presentations:

  • Unlimited number of contributors/presenters

  • Is involved in campus research activities (i.e., lab work, class project, senior thesis) or has a thoughtful, well-planned, and/or completed independent research project

  • Create a traditional psychology academic convention poster - there are examples of these posted all over the upper levels of Social Sciences 2!

Requirements for oral presentations:

  • 1-3 presenters

  • Is involved in campus research activities (lab work, class project, senior thesis, etc.) or has a thoughtful, well-planned, and/or completed independent research project

  • Create a slideshow presentation to accompany their oral presentation

 Priority is given to:

  • Psi Chi official members (at least 1 person in your group is an official member of Psi Chi)

  • Upperclassmen with upcoming graduation dates (2026, 2027)

  • Psychology and/or Cognitive Science declared majors

We encourage all who are interested in academic research apply to present at the Psi Chi Symposium.

Sincerely,
