College Year in Athens (CYA) invites applications for the Brian D. Joseph Chair in Classics, an endowed visiting professorship based in Athens, Greece, beginning September 1, 2026, for a term of up to three years. The Chair brings accomplished scholars to Athens to teach and pursue original research in Classics or related fields (Ancient History, Archaeology, Philology). The Chairholder will teach one course per semester in their area of expertise, engage in independent research drawing on Greece’s rich resources, deliver a public lecture, and participate in the academic life of CYA. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and a permanent university position and should demonstrate an active research agenda, a strong record of publication, and substantial experience in undergraduate teaching.
