 Call for Abstracts "Mediterranean Sovereignties"

Issues of Mediterranean sovereignty have never been more present than now. With the current war reshaping the region’s legal and human landscape, our upcoming MLA panel will bridge the gap between historical concepts of statehood and the urgent realities of the present day.

Panel invites 250-word proposals on sovereignty in Mediterranean literatures, cultures, and languages. Women and indigeneity; indigenous languages and cultures; borders; empire; water and sea; dominant and minority languages; nations and nationalism, political, personal, and/or bodily sovereignty.

All genres, time periods, Mediterranean focal areas, approaches considered.
