Tropical Air-Ocean-Wave-Land-Hydrology Interaction Research and Modeling
Naval Research Laboratory, CA, Marine Meteorology
Multidisciplinary research is being conducted to understand the
atmospheric large-scale waves, monsoon, atmospheric river, tropical
cyclone, diurnal cycle, cloud, and precipitation processes to improve
weather and seasonal prediction capabilities. The focus is on the
coupled air-ocean, air-wave, air-land-hydrology forcing and feedback
mechanisms. Opportunities exist to study these multiscale nonlinear
interactions using the NRL regional coupled model and in-situ/remotely
sensed observations, through the diagnosis and development of coupled
parameterizations, and by participating in field programs.
