Is there any workflow procedure that is outlined for the calibration of a model ?

I've googled around and found two things related to WRF Hyrdro Calibration, PyWRFHydroCalib and PEST coupled WRF Hydro calibration.

Can anyone provide any leads on how to move forward ?

The model runs have given me streamflow at my gauge location that look very much like the observed, but the quantum of water flowing out is a few orders of magnitude lower than the observed.

Any help/advice would be highly appreciated.

Hi Walter,

PyWRFHydroCalib  is not yet publicly available. We hope to release it to the public in the near future.

Maybe some other community members have experience with other calibration methods?

Best regards,
Molly

Given the relatively large difference between your observations and the model simulation, you might also want to confirm the gage location is correct in your model domain and check your model forcing data (precipitation in particular - doing a water budget could be useful) if you haven't already.  It looks like there could be more to it here than poorly representative parameters.

Thanks Katelyn. Will have a look at this.

Also, can you throw some light on the usage of TRMM 3b42 dataset to force a model. Are there NCL Regridding scripts for the same ?

Regards

Walter

I haven’t worked much with the TRMM data in particular, but satellite based precipitation estimates can have significant biases so that’s something to be aware of.

Unfortunately we don’t have a regridding package for this product, but you could certainly use the existing scripts as a template.
