Warm start

Dear all,

I've set my 1st run from 2015-07-29 to 2015-07-31 and used the restart files from this run for my 2nd run which is from 2015-07-31 to 2015-08-02. Is this efficient enough to warm start my 2nd run? I did get streamflow values of up to exponent -2 though it's a little bit off from my observed by a tenth.

Hi Dani, 

Thank you for contacting us. It is hard to say if that would be enough time. Depending on which variable of the model you are looking at, the time required to reach to the warm state may differ.

Some guidance can be found in our FAQ, our document Using Restart Files in WRF-Hydro , and our training lesson 4 experiment 1.

Hi Molly,

Thank you so much for your response. Yes, I've read the Restart files document and I've tried the lesson 4 experiments for the sample case as well. Though, it was noted that the restart files used were from a 10-month spin-up period to warm start the runs in the lessons. Still, I'm hoping it would take less than that for my runs.
