Dear all,

I am trying to run the model over a new domain with a watershed area of approximately 10,000 km². However, I am encountering the following error message:

The job is stopped due to the fatal error.  ERROR: Unable to create LDASOUT NetCDF file.

This occurs when the model is compiled and run with SPATIAL_SOIL=1. When running with SPATIAL_SOIL=0, the model only works on a single processor (or occasionally two) and does not utilize multiple processors.

For context:
  • I successfully ran the test case using 32 processors.
  • I also ran the model over my previous domain (watershed area: 2,500 km²) with 72 processors without issues.
I have attached the diag_hydro.00000, sbatch script and .log files for your reference.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance or advice on resolving this issue.

Thank you,
Shanaka

Hi Shanaka:
I don't think I have seen this error before. Can you share your namelist files? I always recommend starting with the simplest configuration (spatial soils off,
all routing components deactivated, idealized forcings... so basically you are running the LSM only and only ingesting the domain & config files), then slowly
add complexity. If the model does not run under the simplest configuration, then it generally indicates an issue with your domain files or configuration specs.

Thanks!
Aubrey
