Dear Admins,

I hope this message finds you well. As you may know, the last WRF-Hydro® training event took place in 2022, and since then, no new training sessions have been held. It's been nearly three years, and as the field continues to evolve, the demand for updated knowledge and skills regarding the WRF-Hydro® Modeling System has never been higher.

Over the past few years, there have been significant advancements in both the model code and its applications, with new updates, improved capabilities, and evolving best practices. Additionally, the modeling needs of researchers, scientists, and practitioners working on water resource management, hydrology, and climate studies have become more complex and demanding. Keeping up-to-date with the latest version of the model is crucial for ensuring the continued success of these efforts.

A new training would help:

  1. Update Skills and Knowledge – Many users may not be fully aware of the recent features or improvements in the system, including important updates to the model code and configuration.

  2. Build Capacity for the National Water Model (NWM) – With the growing importance of the WRF-Hydro® Modeling System in large-scale, national water modeling applications, having access to fresh training is key to supporting the National Water Model and related projects.

  3. Encourage Collaboration and Networking – A new training session could also offer opportunities for collaboration among the community of WRF-Hydro® users, which would foster innovation and knowledge-sharing.

Given the significant gap since the last training, it’s an ideal time to provide new training sessions to help both new and existing users leverage the system's full potential. It would be invaluable for the broader community of hydrologists, climatologists, and water resource professionals.

Thank you for considering this important need. I look forward to hearing from you and hope to see a new session in the near future.

Best regards,
Will H

I agree with Will's request, training on WRF-Hydro would be very useful for the community.

Hi Will & Matias:
Thanks for your interest in a new WRF-Hydro training. We are hoping to wrap-up a few development activities before resurrecting our community trainings, but I agree it has been too long. One option we have considered is syncing up with the Noah-MP Users Workshop (planned for this summer), but it will depend on resource availability. We'll keep you all posted.

Thanks!
Aubrey
