Hello,

We tried pre-processing data with ArcGIS but got the error below:

Failed to execute (ProcessGeogridFile)

We're not sure why it won't work because it worked fine using the test cases. We've previously pre-processed another domain and ArcGIS ran smoothly.

If it would help, attached is the header information of the geogrid file used. It's 200-m resolution and we were hoping to use an aggregation factor of 10.

Thank you,
Cathrene

Hi Cathrene,

Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry you are having difficulty processing your files. This is a Windows OS type error. The files were temporarily written to a scratch directory but for some reason, Windows is seeing them as still in use.
Also, I see that you are using ArcGIS 10.6 we have only done minimal testing with the WRF-Hydro GIS Preprocessing toolkit and ArcGIS 10.6.
I will see if a colleague of mine might have a workaround.

If you contact us through https://ral.ucar.edu/projects/wrf_hydro/contact with your geogrid file and dem I could try take a look at them on Monday.
Cheers,
Molly

Cathrene,

I had a look at the error messages that you sent and I don't know why there was an error. The groundwater file was created successfully, but then the script was unable to read that file. I assume you have permissions to write to the directory and that it is not on a network drive or somewhere else that would become unavailable during processing?

I think you can go into your scratch directory (C:\Users\Admin\Documents\THESIS_ARCGIS\mcslagare\scratchdir), and you will find the Fulldom_hires.nc file as well as the other files you need. The only one that did not complete was the GWBUCKPARM.nc file. You could generate this using a different tool. Look in the Utilities toolset for the Build Groundwater Inputs tool. Then you would specify that you want to build Groundwater Inputs using the "Fulldom LINKID local basins" option and you should get the result you need. If it fails, then we can troubleshoot why there is a failure in that function.

Could you send me your input files and the parameters you used to run the tool and I can test it on one of my machines with ArcGIS 10.6 installed?

Thank you,

Kevin
