Good afternoon,

My aim is to develop several WRF-Hydro models for watersheds in northeastern USA using the same setup as the National Water Model ‘Long range’ configuration.  I then plan to run the WRF-Hydro models uncoupled, with nudging turned off.

I note that the NWM v2.0 parameter files (fulldom_hires; routelink; spatialweights; lakeparm) are available for download from NOAA’s Office for Water Prediction.

I am reaching out to the community for advice on the most efficient way to develop the WRF-Hydro models to match the NWM LR-configuration.  Is there an easy way to sample the NWM parameter files, extract the data for my area(s) of interest and re-grid onto new domains?

Any suggestions for the best way to achieve this would be gratefully received.

I found some information on Hydroshare about the ‘CUAHSI Domain Subsetter - NWM edition’ which seems to be the sort of thing I am looking for, although it is an older version of the NWM.  Does anyone have experience using this tool?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Tom

Hi Tom,
What version of code are you wanting to run? I would normally direct you to the CUAHSI subsetter, however I see that the CUAHSI subsetter is still running V1.2. It has yet to be updated with the most recent operational version of code.
We may be able to run a subset for you.
I will start a ticket for you through our helpdesk and we can discuss the details there.
Best regards,
Molly
