Hello,

I got an issue when running WRF-Chem with MEGAN v2.04 for 2 domains. My previous run with 1 domain worked well, but in this 2 dom run, it seems that there is something wrong when reading in the wrfbiochemi files. As a result, msebio_isop and many other MEGAN variables are zero (e.g. LAIc, tsa24, par24). I am wondering what could cause this issue and what could help to track the issue.

I  have attached my wrfbiochemi files. Here are my namelist.input for MEGAN part:

&time_control
  auxinput6_interval_d    = 30,   30    !simulation time is 16 days

&chem
   bioemdt                 = 30,     30
   bio_emiss_opt      = 3,      3,
   ne_area                 = 500,

Thanks!

Suqian

Hello Suqian

could you please share your namelist with us? Also, if you look at the isopr fields in your output, do they reflect the missing biogenic emissions?

Thanks
Gabi

Hello to everyone,

I was wondering if this issue was resolved, since I am facing the exact same problem. I am running a simulation with 4 nested domains and, viewing the outputs with ncview, it is obvious that only d01 has proper isoprene emissions (with a proper diurnal variation and everything), while all nested domains only get some isoprene from their lateral boundaries. This is puzzling, since all wrfbiochemi_d0* are generated properly and there doesnt appear to be any problem with the values of the variables such as MSEBIO_ISOP or LAI in my domains. Furthermore, these variables also appear to be loaded properly to the wrfinput_d0* files.

I am uploading my namelists and logs in case they help figure out the issue. Would really appreciate a response, thanks in advance!!

Hi Giwrgos

I have been looking through your rsl file and it does not seem as if your wrfbio files are read in at all? So I am surprised that your biogenic emissions in d01 look fine.

Could you try again but in your namelist change to:
debug_level = 100 (i.e. increase the amount of information that is written to the logfile)
and also add:
auxinput6_interval_h                = 120, 120, 120, 120
You could also add the wrfbiochemi_fields (e.g. MSEBIO_ISOP) to your output to ensure the fields are being read in.

Gabi
