Diurnal emission in EDGAR-HTAP

Hello all, 

Can you please point me to information about how anthro tool maps the monthly EDGAR emissions to diurnal/hourly files? is the diurnal profile regions specific?

I tried finding more info in the emissions guide but little help. 

Any help/information source would be really appreciated.

I am very confused, is the diurnal output from the antro_emis utility based on Freitas et al 2011?   https://gmd.copernicus.org/articles/4/419/2011/gmd-4-419-2011.html 

If so, it should not have two 12 h files with 12- hourly identical values. It should have two peaks. Did I get something wrong?

Please suggest.
