ESMF 8.4.2 released

The ESMF Core Team is pleased to announce the ESMF 8.4.2 patch release. It is now available for download at https://github.com/esmf-org/esmf/releases/tag/v8.4.2. Release notes and known issues are also available in the usual format on the ESMF website: https://earthsystemmodeling.org/static/releases.html#8_4_2.

ESMF 8.4.2 is a patch release that fixes a few minor issues that were discovered in 8.4.1 after it was released. Unless a user experiences any of the issues addressed in the release notes, there is no need to upgrade to this release from patch 8.4.1.

As a patch release, 8.4.2 does not introduce new features beyond 8.4.0 or 8.4.1. Applications that have already moved to ESMF 8.5.0 beta tags should not go to the 8.4.2 patch. For these cases an upgrade to a recent 8.5.0 beta tag, and 8.5.0 when officially released, is the recommended next step. All of the fixes that come with patch release 8.4.2 are also available in beta tag v8.5.0b20 and newer.
