Hi Everyone.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at the Documentation Party from 1-4 Mountain.

The focus of our work session tomorrow is mainly about reviewing the documentation (and not necessarily changing the documentation).  That said, we will be around to help folks who are ready to start making changes.
Here's our working agenda:
  • 1:00 – quick check in and orientation, Link to project board (Erik K)
  • 1:10 – Introduction to where to find documentation on changing the documentation (Sam R)
  • 1:15 – 3:30 – Everyone does their work in parallel, asking questions as it goes
    • Options:
      • Take notes somewhere (Google Doc) on what to change
      • Take notes on what to change in the github issue
      • Actually edit the documentation in a github branch
  • 3:30 – ice cream comes out! (kudos to Brian)
  • 3:45 – close out to celebrate any small wins, plans for next steps (Erik)
  • 4:00 - 4:30 – continue to socialize around ice cream

Thanks for helping with this effort
Will

Thanks for being proactive, Samar! Will is right, Sam and I are working on some docs updates that will probably be live on Thursday. If I don’t remember to send them to you Friday, please ping me to remind.

Yes to both (I think)

Sam R is working on documentation updates that we'll go over on the 10th.
After that I'd assume we'll send an updated link to the documentation docs & likely schedule another group working session.

Hope your time at home has been good.

Hi Will,

I will still be traveling on April 10th, would there be another parallel work session before the 30th?
Otherwise, it would be helpful to share some guidelines/instructions via email on how to make changes to the documentation.

Thanks,
Samar

The invite for the next Documentation Party has gone out!

April 23 1-4 pm MT
In-person location to be determined

While I have your attention, Technote authors please take note of this paragraph in our style guide:
Whenever possible, please give equations meaningful labels. E.g., for eq. 2.26.2, :label: gdds_for_cfts would be better than :label: 25.2. Numeric labels become obsolete—as you can see in that example!—whenever new equations and/or sections are added. (Note that the equation numbering in the rendered HTML is automatic.)

Explicit instructions for adding equations to .rst and .md files appear here:

Thanks!
Sam L.

PS. Erik, since our documentation style guide already addresses the concern that I raised this morning, I have decided against opening an issue about it.

Hi everyone,

I'm sending this
- as a reminder of "Documentation Party 2" this Thursday 1-4 pm MT and
- as an offer to help you open your Pull Requests (PRs) before the meeting if you do not feel fluent in the git/github process. To request help, please respond directly to me and/or Sam Rabin. Note that I will not be available on Wednesday. I'm available the rest of this afternoon and for an hour between meetings on Thursday. If necessary, we open some PRs during the documentation party :-)

Thanks!
Sam L.
