Hello Everyone,
I am working over Himalias to simulate streamflow using WRF-Hydro.
My issue is that all those grid points that fall under catagory of glaciers/Ice producing high surfaceflow attached figure (surface runoff is 25 m, that is impossible).
Do anyone know what is the reason or how can I control streamflow fover glacier gridpoints? I have tried alost all parameters to callibrate but still I could not get good results,
Have anyone tried to apply Wrf-Hydro over a glacer dominated area?
Your suggestins will be highly appriciated.

Hi Shafqat,
Currently there are some simplified glacier land cover representations as options in NoahMP. At this time we do not support a full alpine glacier mass balance model in NoahMP. We have a research project that is adapting an a glacier formulation with mass balance into WRF-Hydro but it is still in development and not available for distribution.

I agree, it would be nice to know how other people are handling glaciers with WRF-Hydro.

Best regards,
Molly

My working day may not be your working day. Please do not feel obliged to reply to this email outside of your normal working hours.
1. You are not working from home, you are at home, during a pandemic, trying to get work done. 2. Your physical, mental, and emotional health is the most important thing right now. 3. Don't compare your ability to cope with everyone else's. 4. Don't attempt to compensate for lost productivity by working longer hours. 5. We will get through this.

Thank you for the reply,
So, currently there is no way to deal with these glaciers? Any way to deal with this? Or should I change my study area?
Your advice will be very helpful for me because i have already spend alot of time to callibrate it.
I have tried Optimization DDS method as well but my issue is that huge amount of volume.  When I replace these glacier grid points with some other land type the issue of volume is resolved but the pattern of streamflow changes. Because 70% contribution in streamflow comes from glaciers.
There are some studies in which wrf hydro is applied in a glacier dominant catchments but they deal glaciers saperatrly.

Thankyou
Shafqat.
