  Hello everyone,
I have a question. I want to run the WRF-Hydro model as standalone for a small area with a watershed. I only need output from the model for a single flood event that lasted two days. Could you please advise on the approximate length of the spin-up period needed for a short runtime, like two days, when we only want to analyze a specific event? Thank you!

Hi Parisa,

There is not a magic number that I could share, however, for most of our applications we rely on multiple years of the spin up to let the model adjust to the climate of the area. It depends on the properties of the area of interest. If you do not have access to multiple years of forcing data for your area of interest, one other option is to run the same year(s) multiple times.

Thanks!
