Energy New Graduate Program!

Are you a motivated, soon to be post-secondary graduate from the University of Alberta seeking an opportunity for growth in the ever-changing world of Energy? Are you someone who can see the big picture, critically analyze issues that impact our province, and work strategically to gather information and balance varied perceptions? If this describes you, then the Energy New Graduate Program is the ideal role for you to begin your career and reach your full potential!

The two years Energy New Graduate Program provides soon to be or recent post-secondary graduates from the University of Alberta or the University of Calgary with the opportunity to work with the Department of Energy. After two years, the New Graduates will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent Program Services 3 position with the Department of Energy. The program will provide candidates:
  • insights into the energy sector by supporting key projects that impact the sector and energy transition;  
  • prepare for a future career in public policy by further developing the competencies required of a policy professional in the Alberta Public Service;
  • increase your understanding of how government works and its policy development cycle; and
  • gain valuable work experience, expand your perspective and build your professional network through learning and development opportunities, such as a mentorship program.
Qualifications
  • University graduation in economics, political science, public policy, environmental science, business and commerce or related field.
  • Graduates from the University of Alberta or the University of Calgary
  • Recently graduated in the past 12 months or expected graduation in May 2022.
  • No experience required
