The UBC Master of Food and Resource Economics (MFRE) in Vancouver would like to introduce you to their professional graduate program, and share student funding opportunities.

The MFRE is a unique one-year professional masters program that applies Economics, Policy and Business concepts to the Agriculture, Food, Environment, and Natural Resources sectors. MFRE offers students data-driven and professional skills needed to solve relevant real-world issues, through rigorous coursework, challenging graduating projects, professional development workshops, and an innovative speaker series covering highly relevant topics such as the Data Analytics of Climate Change, Food Supply Chain Innovations, Conservation Economics  and Food Business Entrepreneurship.

MFRE students can choose to focus on different aspects - economics, business, policy - of the Food and Resource sector through elective courses taught by our own faculty and industry specialists. Our cohort is composed of students with multiple interests - from young economists looking to apply their skills set to important environmental/food challenges to commerce-trained entrepreneurs with interests in big data to individuals pursuing the academic rigour needed for a career as government officials. Our MFRE students consistently and successfully obtain quality graduating projects and career positions - even in a challenging year such as 2020.

This year, our MFRE program is one of the few at UBC Vancouver to be taught in a combination of small group in-person and on-line classes through our innovative hyflex teaching model, which allows us to continue teaching domestic and international students in a safe environment. MFRE Applications for Fall 2021 are now OPEN. We continue to offer attractive scholarships and teaching assistantship opportunities (links below) and have added early and regular admission offer dates. MFRE Virtual Info Sessions are offered throughout November (see below).
