Hello Trillium Community,
I wanted to give out one last reminder about Trillium participating in the NW Pride Festival just in case anyone wants to join in last minute.
This weekend marks the first time Trillium has marched in the Pride Parade. We have a huge banner to hold to show how much we support our LGBTQI students, faculty and families. All are welcome to march with us to show your solidarity and support.
We will be gathering at NW Everett Street between NW Park Ave and NW Eighth Ave at 10:15am THIS SUNDAY 6/19. The parade starts at 11am sharp!
The pride parade is an amazing event to attend and is very family friendly. You see groups ranging from churches to big businesses showing their support.
If you would rather watch the parade instead of marching, that's fine too! The parade is so fun to watch all the different groups go by and you can cheer loudly for Trillium!
In light of recent events, I know it's scary to think of going to a pride event. If you feel the need to stay at home, I understand. However, nothing changes when people stay home feeling safe. The LGBTQI community needs support and a demonstration of solidarity and love more than ever. Pride parades began as a demonstration that we will not be silenced by hate and fear but that we matter and no one can stop that. The Portland Police will be more present than ever to make sure our parade is safe. They have been checking in on gay bars through the weekend which is amazing. Whoever feels willing to stand with me holding a "Trillium Pride" banner, please stand with me.
Wear your rainbows :)
