PUBLIC AFFAIRS RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY INTERN
Job Title: PARA Summer Intern
Status: 25-30 Hours/Week

Department: Public Affairs Research and Advocacy working with all team members but direct report to Aseel Elborno
Location: Hybrid
Compensation: $1000 Stipend
IRUSA is accepting a placement to assist the Public Affairs Research and Advocacy Department (PARA). This is a student intern position, hybrid with some in-person activities both in Washington, DC and in Alexandria, VA. The intern will work closely with our team to further the mission of Islamic Relief USA through advocacy and research, including, but not limited to, the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with the production of the What a Relief Podcast
Write compelling blogs on various PARA activities
Contribute to research projects and profile through expanding digital real estate, writing, research and analysis, and engagement with various stakeholders.
Support coordination and operation efforts for various activities and tasks.
Participate in internal & external meetings and write internal memos.
Event support for summer intern event in DC.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Independent and self motivated to perform tasks accurately and efficiently
Strong communication skills
Learning Outcome: Intern will gain invaluable grassroots advocacy and research and events experience, as well as insight into NGO federal advocacy, government affairs, coalition building and media relations. Intern will also learn about the work and functions of other divisions within our organization including Marketing and Programs.
