Did someone has trained a model with Performance RNN?

What could be a good number of MIDI files to get training? And about the number of steps?

All of the pre-trained Performance RNN models we have made available were trained on a dataset of ~1400 MIDI files from the Piano-e-Competition.  Number of steps varies but was usually around 100k.

Thanks, Ian Simon! I am Brazillian, and I am training a Blues dataset for my academic work. It was 40k steps, and the results were not good enough.

I was worried for length of the dataset, it's about ~700 MIDI files. What do you think about this number of files? Is it requires more training or less training?

Tell me more about this blues dataset.  Performance RNN is really geared toward single-instrument polyphonic tracks with expressive timing and dynamics.  What kind of poor results were you getting?

I downloaded the midi files from here: https://freemidi.org/genre-blues

Using the https://www.import.io

The results are getting better, I just already generated new ones with almost 70k steps today... About the results with around 40k, there was some notes out of the melody.
