I understand the TensorFlow is release under Apache 2.0 open source license. I tried to publish an app in the app store but it go rejected due to

After further review, we won’t be reinstating your app because it violates our Impersonation and Intellectual Property policy.

Our policy states:

  • We don’t allow apps that use another app or entity’s brand, title, logo, or name in a manner that may result in misleading users. Don’t try to imply an endorsement or relationship with another entity where none exists.

For example, your app contains content from https://www.tensorflow.org/.

We were not able to validate your account's relationship to the original content or brand owner (TensorFlow). In order for us to process your appeal, please reply with verifiable documentation (PDF File) that your application is authorized. Please be advised we will not be able to respond or reinstate your application without the above documentation.

For example, any contract, supporting documentation, and/or proof of permission that this developer account is authorized by the website can suffice.

Question is do I have right to the use the "TensorFlow" name and images in my App or only the the source code?

Whether the use is acceptable depends on what your app does and how it uses the tensorflow logo.

I cannot help based on the information I have, but we will soon publish usage guidelines for the TensorFlow logo and trademark, which should hopefully clear up any issues.

Thanks for the reply

I was planning to pubish an image classification demo based on the android sample in tensor flow. I see the official package name has been used by another app in the store

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tensorflow.demo "Skin Scanner (Unreleased)"

Takes a bit of refactoring to get the sample working with a differenet package due to the JNI references, i guess that might be why no image classification demo demo is published.

Hi Martin,

It's not urgent but I'm curious if Google has published anything for TensorFlow logo/trademark usage yet.

Thanks!
